Blue Ash Youth Symphony Orchestra 2010-2011 Auditions

GROUP OVERVIEW:
The Blue Ash Youth Symphony Orchestra (BAYSO) provides student musicians with the opportunity to experience the riches of great music written for the modern symphony orchestra. Our membership is made up of a diversity of students from over forty local schools in grades 7-12. BAYSO performs a minimum of four concerts each season.

Weekly rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7-9 PM (September- May) at Sycamore High School.
Auditions are held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church at 10345 Montgomery Road.

We are a fun group who enjoys making music together and we would love to have you join us!

Eligible Musicians & Membership

1. Students enrolled in grades 7-12 in the public, private and home schools of the greater Cincinnati region may apply to audition for open positions in BAYSO.
2. BAYSO members are required to work for the good of their school music programs and must participate three (3) of four (4) years in their own high school music program where available.
3. All musicians are required to take private music lessons with an instructor.

Audition Format & Materials

1. Please fill out an online application.

2. Please prepare a solo (unaccompanied).
3. Please be prepared to play all two-octave scales up to 4 sharps and 4 flats (Director's choice).
4. You will also be asked to do some sight-reading.

Audition Dates for 2011-2012 Season

Monday, August 22^nd	7:00-8:45pm Welcome back rehearsal for returning BAYSO musicians only.
	In the Sycamore High School band room
Wednesday, August 24^rd	6:30-9:30pm Auditions at St. Barnabas
Thursday, August 25^th	6:30-9:30pm Auditions at St. Barnabas
Monday, August 29^th	6:30-9:30pm Sycamore Band Room
	Note: Percussion need to audition on this evening as we do not have percussion equipment at the church.
Tuesday, August 30^th	6:30-9:30pm Auditions at St. Barnabas
Wednesday, August 31^st	6:30-9:30pm Auditions at St. Barnabas
Monday, September 12^th	7:00-9:00pm Parent/Student Orientation and first Rehearsal at Sycamore High School.

Students may call the hot line (1-888-893-9378) to arrange an audition time. Students will be allowed to choose an evening that best fits their schedule but will be encouraged to attend with groupings of like instruments.(Exception: Percussionists will need to audition on Aug 29th, see above)
