| Mission |
| BAYSO seeks to challenge young musicians to strive for musical excellence, to seek intellectual stimulation, to experience the love and joy of making music, to appreciate cultural diversity, and to become socially aware and responsible citizens. |
| Membership |
|
1. Students enrolled in grades 7-12 in the public, private and home schools of the greater Cincinnati region may apply to audition for open positions in BAYSO. 2. BAYSO members are required to work for the good of their school music programs and must participate three (3) of four (4) years in their own high school music program where available. 3. All musicians are required to take private music lessons with an instructor. |
| Conduct |
| BAYSO expects the very best conduct from all of our musicians and their families. This extends to rehearsals, performances, and any time a musician and their family represents the Blue Ash Youth Symphony Orchestra. BAYSO demands that anything that does or does not belong to us be used carefully and properly. Any damage will be the responsibility of the party involved. We are extremely fortunate to have the use of many items and venues, and our reputation for quality and care earns us that privilege. |
| Attendance |
|
Attendance at all concerts is mandatory.
Attendance at all rehearsals is mandatory, with up to three excused absences allowed. An absence must be called in to the BAYSO hotline before the rehearsal to be considered excused. Call the BAYSO hotline at 1-888-893-9378 to leave a message for a director. Please speak clearly when leaving the name of the musician and the reason for the absence. Excessive excused absences will lead to exclusion from BAYSO. |
| Rehearsals |
| Rehearsals are held on Mondays from 7:00-9:00 PM primarily at Sycamore High School, 7400 Cornell Road. When Sycamore High School is not in session, scheduled rehearsals will be held at the Montgomery Assembly of God, 7950 Pfeiffer Road. (Note: Please bring a music stand to any rehearsal at the church!) |
| Concerts |
| Concert performance locations are indicated on a yearly BAYSO schedule. Each musician is required to bring appropriate dress as per the dress code. Failure to have the appropriate attire may result in exclusion from that concert performance. |
